THANE: The rift between the allies in the state at the local level as the
NCP staged a bitter protest against the ruling party in the Thane corporation, the
Shiv Sena, over the 'autocratic' manner in which it ruled the corporation disregarding other parties.
A handful of agitated NCP corporators led by the leader of the opposition, Ashraf Pathan, stormed into the arena from where the online meeting was being broadcasted and sought answers regarding fewer vaccination schedules available for
Mumbra from the Mayor and also delayed ward improvement
funds.
"The Sena seems to be pressurising the corporation to conduct vaccination drives in select areas depriving the extended suburbs. Also, we have been demanding an adequate budget ahead for executing works in our ward," said an NCP functionary.
Meanwhile, Mayor
Naresh Mhaske assured the teams to look into the issue and also directed the administration to register an FIR against the Mumbra doctor in the vaccination 'smuggling' case, the general body announced, Tuesday.
The corporation had only sent a complaint to the police but didn't pursue for an offense to be registered which was raised in the House following which the administration will seek legal recourse and approach the police to register an FIR after four vials were smuggled out during her custody.
