Director Shankar celebrates his birthday today and one common thing in his filmography is he is definitely not a mainstream filmmaker as he knows how to embellish his work with grandeur which is still not possible for several Indian directors. He started his career with Arjun Sarja's 'Gentleman' movie in 1993 and he was last seen in Rajini's '2.O' and of course after the demise of Writer Sujatha his movies failed to create an impact.

Apart from the grandeur and special effects, his movies always have conveyed a definite plot with a message and the budget also gets phenomenal every time as he scales himself better every time. Soon after his movies started tasting huge successes, he was compared to Hollywood's james cameron as he also spared no expense when it comes to budget and cinematic vision just like the ace hollywood filmmaker. 


Director shankar never suffered much as he was already born in an affluent kumbakonam family in tamil Nadu and he started working as a Quality Control Supervisor until he moved on to filmmaking. Rajinikanth has said once that director shankar still has a childlike curiosity and he never leaves the set until he gets complete satisfaction from the shots taken on a particular day.
