The Port Huron Township office is closed through Wednesday because of a positive COVID-19 test.

According to a notice on the township's website, the office has been closed since Monday and will reopen at 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

Supervisor Bob Lewandowski said the case "came up over the weekend" with an employee, and that it was possible another employee was exposed. He said a crew was expected to come in Tuesday night to clean and disinfect the office, 3800 Lapeer Road.

The official said, "Before employees can return back to work, they have to have a negative COVID test."

A township board meeting originally scheduled for this week was rescheduled for 7 p.m. next Monday, according to the notice. However, due to a potential lack of quorum, Lewandowski said it could be rescheduled once again.

While the office is closed, residents are asked to use the dropbox or an online payment portal for payments through porthurontownship.org
