Bengaluru/Hubballi, Aug 17 (UNI) Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi on Tuesday said Taliban will try to create problems in other countries, but India is strong and self-sufficient to contain the situation and face the threat of cross-border terrorism.
"They (Taliban) will try to create problems in other countries, but as we have seen in the last seven years at least, we have adopted and accepted the policy of zero-tolerance towards terrorism, and India is quite strong and self-sufficient to contain the situation and also to face the threat of cross-border terrorism," he told reporters in Hubballi.
He was responding to a query amidst the fall of Kabul into the hands of Taliban and worries of Afghanistan becoming a breeding ground for Islamic radicalism and terrorism.
Meanwhile Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the evening, chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security amidst political crisis in Afghanistan. The meeting was attended by Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla and India’s Ambassador to Afghanistan Rudrendra Tandon' also attended the meeting.
Earlier today, India evacuated its ambassador and staff from the embassy in Kabul in the C-17 Globemaster aircraft of the Indian Air Force, which landed at the Hindon airbase near New Delhi.
The plane carried 120 plus people, including diplomats, officials, security personnel, and some stranded Indians.
