Kabul, Aug 15 (UNI) Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai, Abdullah Abdullah, head of the High Council for National Reconciliation, and Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, a former prime minister, have formed a coordination council to prevent chaos and manage the peace process better for a peaceful transition, as Ashraf Ghani left the country in the wake of the Taliban takeover.
Karzai said that in order to prevent chaos and reduce the suffering of the people, and to better manage the affairs related to peace and for a peaceful transfer, the three senior politicians had decided to form the Coordination Council.
Meanwhile, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, leader of Hezb-e-Islami of Afghanistan and a former prime minister, on Sunday said that the Ashraf Ghani government had refused to give up the war with the Taliban, ToloNews reported.
Hekmatyar said the Ghani government had refused the transfer of power to an interim government that is acceptable to all.
He also said the Ghani government had failed to provide security in Kabul.
While earlier the Taliban had decided not to enter Kabul, but later they allowed their fighters to enter Kabul.
The Taliban said that although they did not want to enter the city, the evacuation of security districts by security forces had raised concerns about insecurity in Kabul, so they decided to allow their men to enter the city.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told Tolo News that their forces have been asked to enter the city. He pledged that the security situation will be under control.
Meanwhile, Kabul News website said that Ashraf Ghani has gone to Oman from Tajikistan.
Ghani and his aides, Rola Ghani, Mohib and Fazli, flew first to Tajikistan and then to Oman where they are presently, it said.
It alleged that Ghani had tried to take three cars full of dollars with him, but was unable to do so.
Former presidents Hamid Karzai and Abdullah Abdullah have said in separate messages said that they are in Kabul and stand by Afghans
Abdullah in a message said that he and former President Hamid Karzai were in Kabul and called on the people to remain calm.
"Afghanistan is facing difficult days and nights, but I hope Afghans will achieve peace," Abdullah said.
Abdullah addressed Ghani as the “former president” and said he has left the country.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Afghan politicians arrived in Islamabad for talks.
The delegation includes Younis Qanuni, Mir Rehman Rahmani, Karim Khalili and Ahmad Wali Massoud.
The Afghan interior minister Abdul Satar Mirzakwal said that power will be transferred under an interim government.
"According to the agreement, the Taliban will not attack Kabul and power will be transferred through the interim government," Mirzakwal said in a statement.
He said all security measures have been taken in the city and no one is allowed to disturb them.
