After adding nursing and clinical staff over the past week, the Christus Southeast Texas Heath System has reinstated its one visitor policy.
This policy will extend to most patients in the system, with the exception of the emergency departments. Only children and patients whose treatment requires assistance in the emergency room will be allowed one adult to accompany them.
“This current (COVID-19) surge presents us with conditions that change week-to-week, and even day-to-day, and we always carefully consider factors that lead to policy changes - especially those that play such an important role in the healing of our patients,” Ryan Miller, Chief Operating Officer of Christus Southeast Texas Health System said in a news release.
To ensure that a safe environment is maintained for all patients, Christus is asking that community members who are positive for COVID-19, have had recent exposure to COVID-19, or who have anyone in their household under quarantine because of COVID-19 exposure not accompany anyone to the hospital.
Visitors are required to wear a mask upon entry and for the duration of their visit.
“We understand that the support of loved ones is vital to the health journey of our patients and we are pleased to safely offer that opportunity,” Miller said.
