Sydneysiders and Melburnians were on Monday warned they could face another three months of stringent restrictions, with besieged NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian hinting lockdown could linger until 80 percent of the adult population is vaccinated.
Further south in Melbourne, a fired-up Daniel Andrews at lunchtime announced a two-week extension of the current shutdown, as well as the return of the controversial 9pm to 5am curfew.
The Victorian Premier also announced a raft of new restrictions, including the closure of playgrounds, basketball courts, skate parks and outdoor exercise equipment.

Launched in 80 studios across Australia in 2016, the 12RND Fitness model is built on the principles of modern boxing training.
Workouts are designed to replicate the physical demands of a 12-round championship match, with 12 three-minute rounds broken up with a 30-second rest in between.
A combination of boxing and strength training allows members to experience the full conditioning experience of a professional boxer.
The 45-minute workouts run on a continuous basis, with a new round commencing every three minutes, making it easy for time-poor fitness fans to jump in whenever they have time.
