United Nations, Aug 15 (UNI The United Nations Security Council will convene a session on Afghanistan on Monday.
This was confirmed by Norway’s UN Mission.
“There will be an open meeting on #Afghanistan in the #SecurityCouncil tomorrow/Monday, as requested by penholders Estonia&Norway,” it said in a tweet.
Estonia and Norway had requested an urgent session of the UN Security Council on Afghanistan.
The meeting comes in the wake of the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan with President Ashraf Ghani conceding power and leaving the country.
The Taliban on Sunday took over the presidential palace and raised their flag over the building.
India is holding the month-long presidency of the UNSC.
On August 6, the UNSC had held a session on Afghanistan on the request of the then Afghan government, led by Ashraf Ghani.
