Lucknow, Aug 16 (UNI) The Monsoon session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly will begin on Tuesday with the Supplementary budget being tabled on August 18.
Leader of the Opposition and Samajwadi Party member Ram Govind Choudhury here on Monday alleged that as the state government has failed on all fronts, his party would raise the issues during the session which will end on August 24.
"We will raise all the failures of the government such as farmers agitation, Covid deaths, law and order, communal disparity and other issues," Mr Choudhury said.
However, state Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna said that government was ready to conduct peaceful session and Opposition should extend its cooperation to the government for smooth functioning of the house.
This is likely to be the last session before the crucial 2022 Assembly polls, hence the supplementary budget grants would be Rs 15,000 crore or more to meet the funds required for development projects and other needs.
However, before the Assembly polls, the legislature would be summoned for a day or two to pass the vote on accounts for the first quarter of the next fiscal.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today will chair an all-party meeting to sought the cooperation of all parties.
The business advisory committee of the Assembly will also finalise the agenda today.
Notably, the last session of both the houses of the state legislature was convened on February 18 and it ended on March 4 after passage of the budget for 2021-22. Thereafter, both the Houses were also prorogued with effect from March 30.
According to Assembly officials, on the opening day, condolences would be paid followed by adjournment of the House for the day.
Six BJP legislators, including a state minister, had died when the house was not in session. The deceased members are Ramesh Chandra Diwakar (Auriyya), Suresh Kumar Srivastava (Lucknow west), Kesar Singh (Nawabganj-Bareilly), Dal Bahadur Kori(Salon -Rae Bareli), state minister Vijay Kumar Kashyap (Charthawal- Muzaffarnagar) and Devendra Pratap Singh (Amrapur- Kasganj).
On the next day, the first supplementary budget would be tabled by state finance minister Suresh Kumar Khanna at 1220 hrs.
There will be no sitting of the House on August 19, 20, 21 and 22.
On August 23, legislation work would be taken up while on August 24 the supplementary budget will be approved.
During the session, at least five Ordnances would be tabled in the House for which fresh bills will be moved for its replacement.
