Darjeeling, Aug 16 (UNI) The iconic Toy Train, a UNESCO site for its
Victorian era of marvelled loco engineering, on Monday chugged off
for the first time in more than three months for travellers visiting this
eastern Himalayan town of Darjeeling in West Bengal.
North East Frontier Railway, which runs the Darjeeling Heritage
Railway (DHR) started its " Joy Ride Services" on Darjeeling-Ghum-
Darjeeling route this morning for travellers visiting these hills.
The DHR will run three steam locos and as many types of diesel
drown locos each day between 9 25 AM to 4 PM.
All the coaches are first class and the travelling includes a visit
to Railway Museum in Ghum.
The DHR is hauled by century-old heritage steam locomotives.
Tickets could be booked through the IRCTC website like any other
train in India.
The movement of DHR was suspended for over 3 and a half
months due to Covid-19.
The travellers visiting Darjeeling must have a certificate of two
jabs or other documents to maintain pandemic norms.
