The embarrassing moment Today reporter Lara Vella bolts off camera after being caught by a garden sprinkler during a live cross
Today show reporter Lara Vella suffered a rather unpleasant wake-up call during her early morning live cross on Tuesday.
The 32-year-old presenter was standing in an outdoor car park just two minutes before her live segment when a garden sprinkler switched on next to her.
The embarrassing footage, which Lara later shared on Instagram, shows the horrified journalist bolting off camera into the darkness to avoid getting wet.

Fine with a chance of showers! Today show reporter Lara Vella had an unpleasant wake-up call early Tuesday morning when a sprinkler began spraying water next to her before a live cross
Lara's cameraman followed suit, quickly picking up his equipment and darting off.
The Nine host laughed off the awkward moment, captioning her video: 'Two minutes before our live cross... Sprinkler= 1, Today show= 0.'
The song Why Does It Always Rain On Me? by Travis played in the background.

'Been there before. Great reaction time,' former Today show weatherman Steve Jacobs commented below her post.
'In case you needed waking up!' Today Extra co-host Belinda Russel added.
Lara then revealed her cameraman Sam Reynolds 'didn't find it so funny', presumably because his gear got wet.

'I'm out of here!' Lara's on-air antics have made headlines over the years - the most memorable being in September 2019 when she abruptly walked off set during a weather broadcast
Lara's on-air antics have made headlines over the years - the most memorable being in September 2019 when she abruptly walked off set during a weather broadcast.
She had to cut short her report in order to catch a flight, and dramatically tossed her script into the air and ran out of the studio to make it to the airport on time.
'Guys, that is it for me because I have to hightail it to the airport and we are off to Bowen, and this week you will see everything from redheads, snags, mangoes... that is all I have to say!' Lara announced.

'I will leave you to read the rest of the weather. I'm out of here, guys. That is a good tease,' she added.
Lara's colleagues Deborah Knight, Georgie Gardner and Tom Steinfort - who have all since left the Today show - were puzzled by her sudden exit.
'I thought you were here for the day. Goodness me, clocked off? Well, at least you're working. Thank you, Lara!' Deborah said with a laugh.
