Aldi aims to hire 20,000 at September hiring event

Aldi said Monday that it has 20,000 jobs to fill including store and warehouse associates when it hosts its National Hiring Week event from September 20 through 24. After recent wage hikes, the average starting pay for store and warehouse workers will be $15-per-hour or $19-per-hour, respectively. Dollar Tree Inc. DLTR, -0.17% and Papa John's International Inc. PZZA, -0.45% are among the companies also hosting events in order to bring on thousands of new workers. However, the most recent data shows there are more jobs than prospective workers to fill them.
