Thane, Aug 16 (UNI) Union MoS Kapil Patil on Monday profusely thanked PM Narendra Modi for offering a cabinet berth for the first time to Thane and putting an end to the district's 'vanvas'.
Mr Patil started his Jan Ashirwad Yatra from Thane city and at the border of Thane and Mumbai, Anand Nagar. He was given a hero's welcome as he visited the district for the first time after taking oath.
Hundreds of activists of the BJP led by the local leaders, including city BJP chief and MLC Niranjan Davkhare, MLA Sanjay Kelkar and former MP Kirit Somaiya, were present to welcome the MoS.
The traditional Agri and Koli dances and songs greeted Mr Patil as he entered the district for the Yatra and proceeded towards Kalyan.
Talking to media persons, he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi ended the 'vanvas' of the district as it got representation in the central cabinet.
'Immediately after taking the oath, I was directed by the PM to go to the people and take their blessings through this yatra,' Patil told reporters.
'Modiji has given me an opportunity to do developmental works. I am given the responsibilities and I am going to fulfill them,' he vowed.
Commenting on his stint with the NCP, he lamented, 'Earlier, I got drifted but Devendra Fadnavis showed me the right path. I will treat BJP as my family and prove my worth by my work.'
