Covid: India reports 36,083 new Covid cases in last 24 hours

NEW DELHI: India on Thursday reported 36,083 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, as per the latest bulletin put out by the health ministry at 9am. With this, the total caseload in the country has risen to 32,192,576.

The death toll has climbed to 431,225 with 493 more people succumbing to Covid in the country in the last 24 hours.

According to the health ministry, the weekly positivity rate remains below 5% at 2%, while the daily positivity rate stands at 1.88%, which is less than 3% for the last 20 days.
The active cases in the country now stand at 3,85,336, which is 1.20% of the total cases.

A total of 37,927 patients have recovered from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the total discharges to 31,376,015 discharges.
The total number of samples tested up to August 14 is 49,36,24,440, including 19,23,863 samples tested yesterday, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research.
The fight against Covi-19 continues. So far under the nationwide vaccination drive, a total of 54.38 crore vaccine doses have been administered.

India's Covid-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19. India crossed the grim milestone of two crore on May 4 and three crore on June 23.
