New Delhi, Aug 15 (UNI) Partition was the biggest tragedy of last century, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday.
"Partition was the biggest tragedy of the last century. These people were forgotten quickly." Modi said while addressing the nation from the Red Fort on the 75th Independence Day.
"India decided yesterday that 14th August will be observed as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day. Those who went through inhuman atrocities, did not even get last rites, those people should live in our memories," he said, adding "This a tribute to those people from every Indian."
On Saturday, Mr Modi announced that August 14 will be observed as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day. The Government also issued a notification for it.
