Gary Neville slammed Benjamin Mendy and claimed the Manchester City star ‘can’t defend’ as the defending champions were stunned by Tottenham in their opening Premier League match.
Man City’s title defence got off to a poor start on Sunday as Son Heung-Min’s goal earned Spurs a 1-0 victory in Nuno Espirito Santo’s first game in charge of the north London club.
During the match, Neville was critical of France international Mendy, telling Sky Sports: ‘Mendy can’t defend. He can’t defend. He’s so loose in his game and City have got [Oleksandr] Zinchenko and [Kyle] Walker are on the bench.’
