40,000 tested, only 30 students positive: Punjab govt

PATIALA: Around 30 schoolchildren in Punjab have tested positive for Covid-19 so far, even as the health department has collected over 40,000 samples from schools in the state. Testing in schools started from the date they opened on August 2.

Students who had come in contact with their Covid-infected counterparts have been quarantined too. “The number is not huge if compared to the mumber of tests,” said Covid-19 state nodal officer Dr Rajesh Bhaskar.
Parents of government schools’ students are worried, while a lot of students have stopped attending classes in private schools.
The number of students coming for physical classes is said to be “very low”.
