Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday said he is committed to resolve all the water disputes including the contentious Mekedatu balancing reservoir across Cauvery river, Mahadayi drinking water project and the third stage of the Krishna Upper project. "We have to complete the third stage of Upper Krishna project to irrigate 5.5 lakh hectares land. That is our priority. We know the background of it," Bommai said in his maiden Independence Day speech as Chief Minister from the Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw Parade Ground. (PTI)

Covid-19 reinfection is minimal in Mysuru and health officials claim the severity was low with only mild symptoms. Mysuru Medical College and Research Institute Dean and Director Dr CP Nanjaraj said a professor at MMCRI who was re-infected recovered faster than the first time. The professor may have developed strong resistance because of the presence of antibodies.

Karnataka reports 1,632 fresh Covid cases, 25 deaths

Karnataka on Saturday logged 1,632 fresh Covid-19 cases and 25 deaths taking the total infections and fatalities to 29,28,033 and 36,958, the health department said. There were 22,695 active cases in the state while the recovery of 1,612 patients took the total recoveries to 28,68,351. The positivity rate for the day was 1.04 per cent and case fatality rate 1.53 per cent, the department said. (PTI)
