IPL 2021 Phase 2:  Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings lead India’s 75th Independence Day wishes – IPL franchises Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings have led the way with wishes as Sunday, 15th August marks India’s 75th Independence Day. The teams have currently begun their preparations for the upcoming season in the IPL 2021 Phase 2, which kicks off in just over a month. And while cricket is at the centre of it all during the IPL, the franchises have extended their wishes showcasing their love for the nation.

15th August 2021 marks India’s 75th Independence Day and will be an occasion to honour and remember the sacrifices our ancestors and freedom fighters made which led to us being a free country. The IPL franchises have basked in on the spirit and extended their wishes on India’s 75th Independence Day.

Mumbai Indians were one of the first IPL 2021 franchises to put out a social media post of the occasion. The most successful franchise in the history of the league, the team shared a picture of the iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, which was draped in India’s tri-colour. Mumbai simply captioned the post with the old adage “सारे जहाँ से अच्छा!” (Better than the entire world).

Punjab Kings also used the coined phrase “Maa tujhe salaam” (Mother, I salute you) as they shared their Independence Day wishes. The graphic included some of the best performances for India by Punjab Kings stars, including IPL 2021 captain KL Rahul’s epic 129 in the first innings of the ongoing Lord’s Test match. Other performances include Mayank Agarwal’s double century against Banglades, Wasim Jaffer’s double hundred against West Indies. Kumble’s 10-wicket haul against Pakistan and Mohamad Shami’s Word Cup hat-trick also made the list.
