Punjab: Cop runs for life as man drives car into him to flee in Patiala

The police said that the cop, identified as Suba Singh, an assistant sub-inspector in Patiala, got his left foot fractured in the incident and was immediately rushed to the nearby private hospital where he is undergoing treatment.
PATIALA: A cop in Patiala was left with broken left foot after he was hit by a car, which had been stopped for a security check ahead of Independence Day, on Saturday.
The driver, in an attempt to escape, drove the car into assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Suba Singh. In a video of the incident which has gone viral, the cop is seen standing in front of the car when the driver nearly rams the fourwheeler into him.

To avoid getting run over by the car, the cop had to run even as the car pushed him from behind.
The driver tries to flee, but drives into the cop, who turns around and starts running to the other side to avoid getting run over by the four-wheeler
The cop then turns to the left to save himself, but gets hit on the leg by the side of the car’s bumper. He falls down on the side and the vehicle’s rear left tyre misses narrowly from driving over the cop.
The ASI turns to the left to get out of the car’s way
The incident took place near Leela Bhawan Chowk in Patiala. Police said the accused was driving a Swift DZire with the registration number of Haryana.
His left leg hits the car’s bumper and he loses balance
ASI Suba Singh’s left foot has been fractured in the incident. He is being treated at a private hospital. Patiala DSP Hemant Kumar said they had started a search for the accused.
He is almost run over by the car again, but escapes
“An alert has been sounded, so that the accused may not cross the borders of the district,” he said.
The car speeds away, leaving the cop injured on the road
The DSP added they did not suspect terrorist activity in the incident, but had started an investigation and would arrest the accused soon.
