MANGALURU: Following the directions of chief minister Basavaraj Bommai, deputy commissioner K V Rajendra held a video conference with officials from the health and other departments on Saturday, to make the Covid-19 management strategy more effective.
The DC directed officials to implement the
CM’s directions effectively, to bring down the test positivity rate in Dakshina Kannada. “Refer more positive cases to Covid care centres (
CCC) and book cases against people infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, if found roaming outside in violation of quarantine restrictions. Pregnant women should be admitted to hospitals if they test positive for Covid-19. Home isolation should be allowed only through the tahsildar, taluk panchayat executive officers and taluk health officers (
THO) of the respective areas,” the DC said.
The district administration also decided to conduct an average of 12,000-15,000 RT-PCR tests per day. The DC also directed the health department to rope in education department officials to trace primary contacts. “In case of funds for Covid-19 management, THOs may get sanctions through the DHO. Similarly, funds will be released to urban local bodies in case of emergency,” he added.
411 cases in DK, 169 in UdupiDakshina Kannada district on Saturday reported 411 fresh cases of Covid-19, with a test positivity rate of 3.7%. Meanwhile, the district also reported seven fatalities, taking the death toll to 1,497. The active caseload of the district increased from 3,649 to 3,682. Udupi district reported 169 fresh cases of Covid-19 and one fatality, taking its death toll to 433. The district has 1,296 active cases.
