One dead, one injured in Ira Twp. stabbing

A 77-year-old woman died and a 54-year-old man were injured in a stabbing Saturday night.

One person died and another was injured in a stabbing in Ira Township Saturday night.

At approximately 8 p.m. Saturday, Clay Township Police Department and Michigan State Police responded to the 8500 block of Short Cut Road in Ira Township for a report of a stabbing, according to a press release put out by Clay Township Police.

Upon arrival, officers located a 54-year-old man lying in the yard of the residence. While tending to the victim, officers were advised that the suspect and another victim were in the residence.

Inside, officers located a 77-year-old female that had died as a result of injuries, according to the press release. They made contact with the suspect, identified as a 66-year-old male, who was taken into custody.

Names have not yet been released.
