Civic body distributes organic fertilisers to mark Independence Day

LUDHIANA: The civic officials distributed home compost to mark the 75th Independence Day on Sunday. A stall of organic fertilisers was also installed at MC zone D office during celebrations. A demo was given on wet waste, dry waste, hazardous waste, and plastic waste, raising awareness about the dangers of single use plastic. Explaining how to make eco-bricks from cloth bags and plastic bottles instead of plastic envelopes, the process of composting from wet waste and composting of organic manure separately from household waste was explained in detail.
About 200 packets of home composting were distributed with an appeal to the people to cooperate in liberating the city from pollution in the 75th year of independence. To go Senior Deputy Mayor Sundar Sham Arora, Deputy Mayor Sarabjit Kaur, Assistant Commissioner Aditya Dechalwal, Zonal Commissioner Kulpreet Singh, Zonal Commissioner Neeraj Jain, Zonal Commissioner Panchi, Ashwani Sahota, Nodal Officer (SBM) Councilor Rashi Agarwal were present on the occasion.
