PATNA: Altogether three persons were arrested and sent to judicial custody on Saturday for their alleged involvement in the killing of two brothers at village Sakrohar under Beldaur police station area on the previous day.
Beldaur police station SHO Shiv Kumar Yadav said that arrested persons are Amal Kishore (45), Anant Singh (59) and his wife Sita Devi (55).
He said that all three of them were sent to jail after production before a court in Khagaria.
Yadav said that Alam is a close associate of prime accused Pampam Singh (32).
Anant and Sita are Pampam's parents.
As per eyewitnesses, it was Pampam who had opened fire several rounds killing his step cousin Dhananjay Singh (63) and his brother Vijay Singh (60) in front of their residence and had injured their third brother Pappu Singh (40) after calling them out of house.
The accused had reached in police uniforms and pulled all family members out in name of house search for a notorious criminal Ramkrishna Yadav, who carried a reward of Rs 25,000.
“More than 15 persons, including Pampam, a criminal Mithilesh Yadav and several others from the village, have been made named accused in an FIR lodged by Dhananjay’s son Rajeev Ranjan,” he said.
SHO said that the three arrested persons are also among the named accused in FIR and police strongly suspects that they had prior information about the murder plot planned by Pampam and Mithilesh.
Yadav said that continuous raids are going on in Khagaria as well as in neighbouring districts of Saharsa and Madhepura to catch dozen of accused evading arrest.
He said that force is deployed in the village for the time being to avoid any kind of law and order situation.
“Our senior authorities are also working on the case. Police are gathering technical and human intelligence to know where Pampam and other accused have fled,” he said.
Till now it has surfaced that Pampam, the only step cousin of Dhananjay and his three brothers, had a dispute over family property with them.
Though all the disputes were settled a few months back between both sides, Pampam still had a grudge against them, as per police sources.
They also said that it was due to these disputes that Pampam got associated with Mithilesh as he was a rival of his maternal uncle and Ramkrishna who had been supporting Dhananjay and his family for years in the disputes.
Sources said that the family of slain Dhananjay and Vijay told police that the killings could have never taken place if Ramkrishna would have been in the village.
