Lord's, Aug 14 (UNI) England were 216/3 at Lunch in the first innings against India on day three of the second Test of the five-match series here on Saturday.
Skipper Joe Root (89) and Jonny Bairstow (51) not out were at the crease when Lunch was declared.
England still trail by 148 runs.
Resuming with overnight score of 118/3, Root (48) Bairstow (6) who were unbeaten at the crease, with the hosts still trailing by 245 runs at the end of Day 2.
They continued their day three adding another 98 runs on the board.
Both batsmen also completed their half centuries as Root is inching closer to another century keeping Indian bowlers searching for wickets in the morning session.
The duo also went on to score 108 runs for the 4th wicket stand.
On day two wicket-takers for India were Mohammed Siraj 2/49 and Mohammed Shami 1/60.
