LUDHIANA: One floor of an unsafe building collapsed suddenly on Saturday while the owner had started dismantling the old building of his own in Punjab's Ludhiana. No casualties were reported despite the fact that the area is thickly populated and the street remains busy. The residents of the area complained that they had asked the owner to dismantle the building safely but he ignored them and their complaints at the civic body office also went unheard. On Saturday first some debris came down onto the street and after that first floor collapsed. The area has been cordoned off. The vehicular movement has been stopped on the road. The electricity in the area also got interrupted. One of the residents, Kunal Sachdeva, said the owner had started dismantling the building of his own as it is a very old one but he did not take any safety measures. He said he even asked him to at least cover the building with sheets but he did not listen.
