Indian Army to hold boat race to celebrate 75 years of Independence

Siliguri, Aug 14 (UNI) In a fitting tribute to all those who fought for Indian freedom struggle and to celebrate 75 Glorious Years of Independence, Indian Army will organise a mega boat race tomorrow on the
Teesta-Mahananda Link Canal.
A total of 75 boats will be lowered all over the country to mark 75 glorious years of Independence.
Besides the Indian Army, teams of CRPF, ITBP, SSB, BSF and NCC will also participate in the event.
The corridor between Teesta and Mahananda rivers holds special significance, as it was through it that Trishakti Corps of Eastern Command and our brethren from then East Pakistan laid the foundation for liberation of Bangladesh by successfully capturing the North Western towns of Hilli, Rangpur and Bogra.
