UP Governor presents gallantry awards to Army personnel

Lucknow Aug 14(UNI) Uttar Pradesh governor Anandiben Patel on Saturday presented 'Gallantry Award' to Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey, Param Vir Chakra (posthumously), Commodore Arvind Singh, Mahavir Chakra, Naval Medal, Brigadier Prashant Kumar Ghosh at the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' at Raj Bhavan .

Others who were given gallantry awards by the Governor are Col. Vimal Kishandas Baijal, Col. Raghunath Prasad Chaturvedi, Major Vishnu Swaroop Sharma, Havildar Kunwar Singh Chaudhary (Posthumous) and Naik Raja Singh (Posthumous), Vir Chakra, Major Kamal Kalia (Posthumous), Lt. Hari Singh Bisht (Posthumous) and Honorary Capt. Chanchal Singh Brigadier Naveen Singh with Vir Chakra, Vishisht Seva Medal, Col. Balraj Sharma, Lt. Col. Jyoti Lama and Honorary Capt. Gokul Kumar Pradhan were honored with Shaurya Chakra.

Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey's Param Vir Chakra Award (posthumously) was handed over to his father Shri Gopi Chand Pandey, Havildar Kunwar Singh Chaudhary's Vir Chakra (posthumous) given to his wife Lakshmi Devi, Naik Raja Singh's Vir Chakra (posthumous) given to his wife Chandra Devi, Major Kamal Kalia's Shaurya Chakra award (posthumously) given to his wife Archana Kalia, Lieutenant Hari Singh Bisht's Shaurya Chakra award (posthumously) given to his mother Shanti Bisht.

On the occasion, the Governor said in his address that due to the sacrifice of the freedom fighters, we are moving ahead by experiencing the energy of freedom today.

She said that the life of our brave soldiers is a source of inspiration for our young generation. "Let the young generation understand the ideals of the brave soldiers and cooperate in whatever they can for their families",she said.

Congratulating all the winners of the Gallantry Award, Governor Anandiben Patel said that the Indian Army has a special place in her heart.

"Our Armed Forces have brought pride to themselves and their motherland through their long history of equitably serving the nation in times of war and peace. The security of the borders of the country is not only necessary for the pride and dignity of the country, but it is also indispensable for the happiness, peace and progress of the countrymen. Many times there were clouds of crisis on our borders, but due to the bravery of our soldiers and the solidarity of the entire nation, the integrity and honor of the country could not be affected. It is true that it is only because of the sacrifice and sacrifice of the soldiers," the governor claimed.
