Police said that the warden Ramesh became friends with phone thief Sibi when the latter was in prison in a phone theft case. Meanwhile, Ramesh became friends with one Karthik whom he met via OLX site. “Sibi would give the stolen phones to Ramesh and the latter sold the phones to Karthik, who in turn sold the phones to others. Sibi lifted the phones of workers from under-construction buildings,” said the police. Police secured the trio based on a complaint by one E Vignesh who found his phone stolen from his worksite in Aminjikarai recently.
