A Lesotho resort was covered in snow from Friday night, a blessing to the resort.

The Afriski Mountain Resort in Lesotho has received approximately 5 centimetres of snow.

Guests and neighboring residents were enjoying the snow on Saturday as it continued to snow, "dispelling the myth and making this Friday the 13th a very lucky one for our resort,” said managing director of Afriski Mountain Resort, Peter Peyper.

“Our winter season is in its final month and despite Covid-19 restrictions limiting our Gauteng guests for a few weeks and making it a more challenging journey for our day visitors, we have had a great season so far,” said Peyper.

Peyper added that the conditions throughout the season have been good, with sunny days on the slopes. “Our guests are adhering to social distancing and enjoying the outdoors. This recent snowfall is a gift to carry us through to the end of our winter snow experience,” said Peyper.

The road, Moteng Pass leading to the resort is currently closed to 2x4 cars and only open to 4x4 cars with good quality of road tyres or snow chains.

Semonkong Lodge, also in Lesotho was also covered in snow from Friday night.

The Drakensberg mountains are still covered in snow while Underberg saw a light snow.
