Ludhiana, August 13

Under the National Clean Air Programme, there is a plan to set up 10 electric vehicle charging stations in the city. A committee of officials from different departments has been formed to identify locations for the same.

Principal Secretary of the Transport Department, Punjab, Kakumanu Siva Prasad conducted a meeting with the officials of the MC, Transport Department and other departments through videoconferencing on Friday. The discussion was conducted for setting up the charging stations.

At present, electric vehicles are being promoted and there is a need to set up such stations. Moreover, the MC is also planning to buy 350 electric rickshaws for door-to-door collection of waste. —TNS
