Omega Seiki
Mobility Pvt Ltd (OSM), part of Anglian Omega Group of Companies, signed a
memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Youth Rural Entrepreneur Foundation
(YREF). As per the MoU, both OSM and YREF will set out a framework to set up an
electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing facility in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh.
Omega Seiki will
be investing Rs 1 bn in Uttar Pradesh and creating 10,000 jobs in the next two
years in Ghazipur.
Both OSM and
YREF will research and explore the rural India market for creating
opportunities for youth to become self-employed entrepreneurs in their villages
utilising EVs. They will create a business plan to set up EV manufacturing
facilities in various regions in rural areas pan India. They will also create a
supply chain for electric vehicles (to be charged via solar energy) in the
supply and demand sides in rural India.
OSM and YREF
will also educate, train and enhance the skills of rural youth in various areas
of the EV industry like service, maintenance, customisation of vehicles and
entrepreneurship opportunities. They will work very closely with central and state governments to enable the growth of the
ecosystem in rural India on a large scale.
