IND vs ENG LIVE Score Day 2 Stumps: At stumps, England’s score read 119/3 as they trail by 245 runs with Joe Root(48*) and Jonny Bairstow(6*) currently unbeaten at the crease after 45 overs. Resuming the final session, Mohammed Siraj provided a dream start for the Indian team in his first over after Tea as he took two successive wickets of Dom Sibley and Haseeb Hameed.
In a replay of his Trent Bridge dismissal, Sibley flicked a length ball on the pads in the air to the waiting short midwicket. Then, on the next delivery which was full and straight from Siraj, the England number three – Haseeb – simply missed as the ball clattered into his stumps for the golden duck.
IND vs ENG LIVE Score Day 2 Stumps: England captain Joe Root then took matters into his hands and with opener Burns, he started rebuilding for the hosts. Root then soon went past Graham Gooch’s 8,900 runs as the 2nd highest run-scorer for England in Tests just behind legendary Alastair Cook.
Indian pacers bowled a tight line and length, but Burns and Root were up to the task as England went past the 100 run mark after 38th over of their innings.
In the additional last half hour of the play in the day, it was Mohammad Shami who speared one into the pads of Burns from around the wicket to give India a crucial breakthrough in the game. England opener walked to the pavilion for 49 off 136. Bairstow and Root then made sure to walk England into day three without losing any further wickets.

- Ravindra Jadeja pulls Mark Wood for a 4. He moves to 31 but will need to stay longer to take India across the 400-run mark.
- Responsibility on Ravindra Jadeja to carry India’s innings forward. But he is under pressure with India’s lower-order comprising mainly bowlers to come next.
- WICKET! Mohammed Shami departs. Another two wickets in quick succession. Moeen Ali gets a wicket. IND 336/7
- WICKET! Rishabh Pant departs after a strong start. It’s his immaturity or impatience, difficult to say but he has thrown his wicket away to Mark Wood, who has been struggling the entire match. An innocent poke and Pant departs on 37.
- Moeen Ali manages a bit of turn but it beats Rishabh Pant, wicketkeeper and even Joe Root at 1st slip. Meanwhile, Jadeja and Pant are closing in on a 50-run stand.
- As Sam Curran and Mark Wood failed to make a dent in India’s batting, Joe Root has introduced Moeen Ali for his 14th over of the match. However, so far with no help from the pitch, it hasn’t yielded any result.
- Among England bowlers, James Anderson has looked the best even on Day 2. He has troubled both Rishabh Pant and Jadeja. But against Mark Wood, Ollie Robinson and Sam Curran, Rishabh Pant has shown no mercy, stepping out, pulling them and driving them for 4s.
- After early blows in KL Rahul and Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja have steadied India’s ship. While Rishabh has played some unorthodox shots, Jadeja has looked steady and has scored rather slowly.
