NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Friday.

Shares of Cadila Healthcare (up 2.66 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals (up 1.78 per cent), Divis Laboratories (up 0.81 per cent), Alkem Laboratories (up 0.32 per cent) and Lupin (up 0.09 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Aurobindo Pharma (down 7.86 per cent), Dr Reddys Laboratories (down 1.36 per cent), Cipla (down 1.2 per cent), Biocon (down 0.8 per cent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (down 0.04 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.59 per cent down at 14049.05.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 164.7 points at 16529.1, while the BSE Sensex stood up 593.31 points at 55437.29.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 33 ended in the green, while 17 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, SAIL, NALCO and Ashok Leyland were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Shriram City Union, SVP Global, Kovai Medical, Technocraft Ind and Krebs Biochem hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Chaman Lal Setia, Suryoday Small Finance Bank Ltd., Future Market, Gulf Oil India and YES Bank hit their fresh 52-week lows.
