The Bosasa Operations R1.8 billion fraud and corruption case has been postponed to allow one of the accused, Linda Mti, to inspect the docket.

Former correctional services boss Mti, ex-department chief financial officer Patrick Gillingham, former Bosasa CFO Andries Van Tonder and former Bosasa COO Angelo Agrizzi are his co-accused in the matter currently before the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court.

"The matter relates to four tenders awarded to Bosasa and its subsidiaries between August 2004 and 2007, which was valued at over R1.8 billion," Investigating Directorate (ID) spokesperson Sindisiwe Seboka said in a statement on Friday.

"This was for rendering catering and training services, installation of CCTV cameras, installing perimeter fencing and supplying a television system and monitoring equipment."

News24 previously reported the accused are charged with several counts of money laundering and violations of the Public Finance Management and Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Acts.

The charges relate to four tenders, worth roughly R2 billion, which the Department of Correctional Services awarded to Bosasa between May 2004 and December 2005.

The tenders were for catering at prisons around the country, fencing at the same prisons, and the provision of televisions for prison cells.

In addition, the catering contract was allegedly extended unlawfully.

The matter is due back in court on 28 October.
