HYDERABAD: A month from now, Union home minister Amit Shah will be descending on Huzurabad on September 17, which the BJP wants to celebrate as Telangana Liberation Day.
According to party sources, Shah has promised a delegation of leaders that he would definitely visit the assembly segment. “At that moment, bypolls in Huzurabad seem improbable. Regardless of the election schedule, Shah will visit Huzurabad,” party sources said and added there could be last-minute changes.
National leaders of the party did not visit the state during the Nagarujana Sagar by-election campaign, but a few are expected to campaign in Huzurabad this time. Union minister for culture and tourism G Kishan Reddy is set to begin a four-day ‘Jan Asheervad Yatra’ from August 16 at Kodad in Suryapet district.
The yatra will pass through Hyderabad. Kishan Reddy, however, is unlikely to visit Huzurabad during the yatra.
