Allottees of the independent houses of the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) will no more need to get the building plan approved for reconstruction of their units. For their convenience, the board has prepared a few standard drawings.
“If an allottee wants to demolish his/her house and construct it afresh, he/she does not need to seek a fresh approval for the building plan if the house has to be reconstructed in accordance with a standard design prepared by the board,” said Yashpal Garg, Chief Executive Officer, CHB.
He said the need-based changes approved by the CHB were also incorporated in the drawings.
Owners of the houses in a dilapidated condition had approached the CHB for reconstruction of their houses after demolition. To provide relief to such allottees, the CHB has decided to prepare a list of designs which will not required the mandatory building plan approval for reconstruction or they could go with the earlier design.
Garg said standard drawings for the independent houses would soon be released by the CHB. The board has almost completed the drawing work, which will soon be sent to the chairman for approval following which the standard drawings will be uploaded on the CHB website.
“If a person wants to deviate from the standard drawings, he or she will have to get the building plan approved,” he said. However, in both cases, the allottee has to obtain the completion certificate from the board.
There are nearly 500 independent houses allotted by the CHB.
