More than 2,500 customers in St. Clair County  remained without power Friday afternoon after a line of storms downed trees and power lines Wednesday night.

Power has been off in some areas since about 4 p.m. Wednesday.

As of about 2 p.m. Friday, county outages are concentrated in Wales, Riley and Emmett townships, and in Marysville. Scattered outages are in Port Huron and Port Huron Township, according to the DTE outage map

In Sanilac County, the DTE map showed power outages concentrated around Carsonville.

Estimated restoration times are for Sunday and Monday evenings, according to the map.

A large tree fell on the slide in Palmer Park during severe storms Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2021.

In a message posted to their website, DTE said it has called in additional out-of-state lineman to help with power restoration efforts.

"Severe weather has moved throughout Michigan with winds of up to 60 miles per hour," DTE stated on its website. "Additional storm activity is forecasted for Thursday. Please report outages or downed power lines below or with the DTE Energy Mobile app and not by phone, due to technical issues we have experienced with our phone carrier. Our teams will be working around the clock to restore power as quickly and safely as possible."

DTE Spokeswoman Je'well Pearson said DTE employees and contractors are working around the clock to restore coverage. When storms of this size leave extensive damage, DTE crews must first arrive on-scene to assess the damage before restoration work begins.

Fire departments throughout St. Clair County, including Fort Gratiot, Port Huron, Marysville, Clay Township and Emmett said they responded to multiple calls in their respective service areas about downed wires and trees during the storm Wednesday evening.

A tree fell on a car near Lakeside Beach in Port Huron during severe storms on Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2021.

Trees falling on houses and cars were reported in Fort Gratiot, Port Huron and Clay Township.

Port Huron City Manager James Freed said trees were downed at Lakeside Beach and Palmer Park. A tree fell on the slide at Palmer Park, he said.

Freed said the city's forestry division worked to clean up storm damage Wednesday night and was continuing efforts through Thursday morning.
