On a fascinating, rain-less day of Test cricket, India and England traded blows at Lord's. But there was no clear winner on Day 2 of the second Test as England reached 119/3 in 45 overs in reply to India's first innings total of 364. At the draw of bails, Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow were unbeaten on 48 (75) and 6 (17) runs respectively. A burst from Mohammed Siraj rocked England, but skipper Joe Root and opener Rory Burns added 85 runs in 164 runs in their stand to slow down India's progress in London. Then, Mohammed Shami removed Burns for 49 in the 42nd over. The damage, however, was done by Siraj, who got the wickets of Dom Sibley and Haseeb Hameed off successive deliveries soon after Tea break to reduce the hosts to 23/2 in 14.3 overs. Then, the visitors were made to work hard and in fact, were forced to spent their reviews in futile, chasing non-existent wickets. Earlier India were bowled out for 364 in their first innings. Resuming at 346 for seven after Lunch, India added just 18 more runs in the second session of the day for the loss of three wickets. Veteran seamer James Anderson was the pick of the bowlers for England with figures of five for 62. KL Rahul top-scored with 129, while his opening partner Rohit Sharma scored 83. Skipper Virat Kohli (42), Rishabh Pant (37) and Ravindra Jadeja (40) made important contributions. The five-match series is levelled at 0-0 after the rain-marred opener ended in a draw at Nottingham.
