Imphal, August 11 2021: The State Cabinet is likely to announce Roop Raag's song "Sana Leibak Manipur Koloi Nangi Manipur" as a State song of Manipur on August 13, 2021 .

Speaking to The Sangai Express, Coordinator of Department of Art and Culture and veteran singer Shamurailatpam Nabachandra (Naba Volcano) said that Manipur does not have a State song till date.

The State Cabinet chose this particular song as the State song among the three short-listed which also include "Ho Ima Poknapham Lamdam" and "Anouba Jukki, Anouba Asha Puduna, Laklo Naharol Semlasi Anouba Sangsar", Naba Volcano informed.

Saying that the song is written by B Jayentakumar and composed by Aribam Syam Sharma, Naba Volcano continued that the song was first sung by 6 singers-(late) Nongmaithem Pahari, Aheibam Budhachandra, Aribam Syam Sharma, Chongtham Kamala, (late) Khundrakpam Tamphamani and Lairikyengbam Sobita in 1965 .

Naba Volcano also said that he is delighted to learn that Manipur will, like many other States, have its State song soon.
