Covington Catholic senior basketball player Mitchell Rylee has committed to stay local for his college career, verbally committing to the Miami University RedHawks Thursday.
The 6-foot-8 center averaged 16 points per game for the Colonels, who were 24-4 overall and 35th District champions. He made 68.7 percent of his field goals and averaged 8.2 rebounds per game. He was named first team all-conference and honorable mention all-state.
Miami, which plays in the Mid-American Conference, finished 12-11 last season. Miami offered him a scholarship on July 24.
He announced the decision on Thursday, which he tweeted was his late mother’s birthday.
