GREATER NOIDA: After Noida, the
Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (
GNIDA) is set to construct more
public toilets, a first in over 25 years of existence of the city.
The authority has sanctioned 30 such toilets, including nine
pink toilets, to be functional by October 2.
While 15 toilets are to be ready by September 15, the remaining 15 will be completed by October 2.
The toilets are being built as part of preparations for the annual
Swachh Survekshan rankings. Some of the areas where these toilets are to be constructed include
Pari Chowk,
Kasna Road, Surajpur Chowk, Government Institute of Medical Sciences (
GIMS), Pragyan School, Greater Noida Authority Office, among others.
All 30 toilets will be built by two private companies for an overall Rs 4.71 crore and will be operated on BOOT (build, own, operate and transfer) model.
Among them, the nine pink toilets will be built at Pari Chowk-1 bus stop opposite NRI City, Surajpur Chowk near Yamaha-Dadri road, Surajpur near DSC road, Opposite City park (Samrat Mihir Bhoj Park), Jagat farm near Pragyan School, Kasna Bus stop T-Point, Pi-3 roundabout Kasna road, Alpha Commercial Belt near metro and Alpha Commercial Belt near Dominos
GNIDA has selected two companies, namely M/S Chinar Impex Pvt Ltd and M/S Vani Advertising Pvt Ltd, to build these toilets. “These two firms will construct all 30 toilets on a
BOOT model at a cost of Rs 4.17 crore. 15 toilets have been directed to be made ready by September 15 while remaining are to be completed by October 2. Among them are nine pink toilets,” said Deep Chandra, additional chief executive officer (ACEO), GNIDA.
