Twitter has introduced a new design and applied it to the web and the phones both at the same time. One of the major visible highlights of this new design is the new font that completely changes the way Twitter used to look before. The new font is not really welcoming, maybe because we were more habitual of what it was before. Twitter has named this new font “Chirp.”
Twitter introduced its proprietary font back in January but has implemented it only now. Back then Twitter shared that the platform has relied on someone else’s typeface, from SF Pro and Roboto to Helvetica Neue.
So, that brings us to “Chirp”, our first ever proprietary typeface. pic.twitter.com/cHPXtGHNCc

The new “Chirp” font applies to all the elements of the platform, from your profile name to items on the left and right panel, and to tweets, of course.
There is a change in the color scheme as well. Twitter says that the colors of the platform have been changed so to draw your attention to the photos and videos you create and share. The colors are now high contrast and a lot less blue.
The change in colors looks more apparent when using Twitter on phone in Dark mode, though. All those icons like Home, Search, Notifications, and Messages in the bottom bar that was previously in blue color have now been changed to simply white. This black and white change looks better in dark mode, in my opinion. However, the Follow button looks a bit weird now. The button is now filled with black color in normal regular theme and white in dark mode, which looks a bit odd.
Finally, Twitter tells it has cleaned up a lot of visual clutter as well. There are now fewer gray backgrounds and unnecessary divider lines. The space between the text has been increased as well for better readability.
