The limited-edition 'Lemon Meringue Doughnuts' are the brainchild of artisan sourdough bakers Sonoma, who took their signature sugar doughnuts and stuffed with lashings of lemon curd and a thick slice of toasted meringue.
The treats, which are described as the 'perfect balance of tart and tangy', are available for a limited time, from now until Sunday, August 15, and for the following two weekends.
Available exclusively at Sydney and Bowral Sonoma stores, the indulgent $6 doughnuts are marketed as the perfect treat to lift the spirits of locked-down Australians lucky enough to live within 5km of a participating bakery.

Covid restrictions were on Thursday tightened across local government areas in Sydney's west, after NSW recorded 345 new cases and two deaths of men in their 90s overnight.
Of the new locally acquired cases, 128 are linked to a known case or cluster, 101 are household contacts and 27 are close contacts. There were 217 mystery cases.
Renowned bakery chain Sonoma, founded in Bellata, NSW, by Kerry Connole and his two sons in 1998, has been baking breads and cakes for the country for the past 23 years.
Today it boasts more than 41,000 followers on Instagram, where a photo of the new lemon meringue doughnuts has sparked a flurry of excitement.
