Uttar Pradesh: 1,370MW solar projects set up in 4 years
As the state government aims to install solar power projects of 10,700 MW capacity by 2022, it has achieved target of 1,370 MW in the last four-and-a-half years. The data shared by state government on Wednesday shows this is around 13% of what it plans in next one year.
A government spokesperson said Yogi Adityanath was working on a plan to set up an ultra-mega solar park in UP apart from the 417 MW solar projects in construction stage. “Big investors are coming forward to invest in solar energy sector in UP. Several investment proposals for solar power projects are under consideration,” he said.
Under the incentive provisions of UP Solar Policy-2017, 100% exemption in stamp and electricity duty for 10 years is being given to investors through online single window clearance system. This has led to 11 private companies in solar energy sector set up their plants in seven districts – Bundelkhand, Banda, Chitrakoot, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jalaun, Jhansi and Lalitpur.
He said thousands of people got employment in solar energy projects in UP while power supply has become more regular in rural areas.
