Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 12 (UNI) Kerala recorded 21,445 new cases of Covid-19 on Thursday while 20,723 patients recovered from the disease, State Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said.
In a statement here this evening, the CM said: "Total 1,45,582 samples were tested during the last 24 hours and the Test Positivity Rate (TPR) is 14.73 per cent. A total of 2,90,53,257 samples have been sent for testing till this day."
Meanwhile,160 recent deaths were confirmed today as due to Covid, taking the death toll in the state to 18,280.
Weekly Infection Population Ratio (WIPR) is above 8 at 634 wards under 87 Local Self Governments (LSGs) where strict restriction is being imposed.
In the last 24 hours, Covid was not detected in any person who recently came to Kerala from the UK. So far, 11 people who came from the UK were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.
