Prosecutors have dismissed all charges against an 18-year-old from Anderson Township who was accused of sexual assault.

Crosley MacEachean, who was a standout football player last season at Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, had faced charges including rape.

Crosley MacEachen is dropped near midfield but not before gaining a CHCA first down, Sept. 4, 2020.

In a statement Thursday, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters said “information came to light after MacEachen was indicted that has changed our understanding of this case."

Deters did not explain further, but said: "We have an ethical obligation to only proceed on cases where we believe there is a likelihood of success at trial. Based on the information we have today, we will not be proceeding further.”

MacEachen's attorney, Scott Croswell, said there are times when the original allegations are looked at in a different light.

"It’s unfortunate that situations like this are played out in public," Croswell told The Enquirer. "I would hope that the public would accept the dismissal of the charges as readily as they accepted the initial allegations."

MacEachen was accused of entering a bedroom where a girl was sleeping in December 2020, removing her clothes and then sexually assaulting her, according to court documents.
