Gurgaon: A man has been booked for allegedly molesting his teenaged daughter and assaulting her under the influence of alcohol.
The 17-year-old girl and her younger sister, who is aged around 14, used to live in a rented house in Khandsa with their father. The girls had lost their mother a few years ago. In February this year, their father, who works as a security guard at a residential society, went back to his native place in UP and left them with a relative living in the same neighbourhood.
When the man returned in March, his daughters refused to move back with him. They insisted on staying with the relative, following which their father filed a case against the latter, accusing him of keeping the girls hostage and sexually assaulting them. However, during investigation, the girls alleged that their father was ill-tempered and often used to thrash them.
On the direction of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), the sisters were shifted to the Child Care Institute (CCI) in Badshapur. They underwent several rounds of counselling. Initially, they only spoke about the alleged physical assault and their father’s alcoholism. It was only on Monday that the man’s elder daughter told a CWC member that she had been molested by him.
“From the very beginning, we had a doubt that it was a case of sexual assault, but the girl did not talk about it. We made an effort to first make her comfortable so she would open up. After many rounds of counselling, she revealed she had been molested by him,” said a CWC member.
On the basis of a complaint, a case was registered against the man on Tuesday at the Sector 10 police station under Section 10 (aggravated sexual assault) of the POCSO Act and Section 75 (cruelty to child) of the Juvenile Justice Act. “We are trying to nab the accused,” said police spokesperson Subhash Boken.
