@5:51 PM: We have 21 minutes of gameplay which means at least five to six overs of Day 1 have been washed away due to the rain. England bowler James Anderson was doubtful for the Test but he was excellent during his overs. He finished the opening session with 11 runs off 8 overs including 3 maidens.

@5:45 PM: GOOD NEWS! The rain has stopped and the covers are coming off the ground. Groundsmen will look to dry the outfield after a wise decision of taking an early Lunch break. At least 71.2 overs of the game are still left on Day 1.

@5:41 PM: India and England will be hopeful that the rain doesn’t play spoilsport in the second session. Both Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul will look to ensure they help India put a century stand. Kl Rahul needs to get the better off James Anderson if he has to last long in this innings. He has played a number of dot balls against the England pace spearhead.

@5:36 PM: Early Lunch- Lunch has been taken early due to persistent rain at Lord’s. Hopefully, the rain will be short-lived. The break is expected to last for a least 30 minutes which means the overs are unlikely to reduced for Day 1 gameplay.

@5:29 PM: The rain came unprecedented and it is unlikely to last long. BCCI will come with an update shortly on the restart. The players are yet to take Lunch which means that you can gear up for more live-action shortly.

@5:24 PM: As per on-air updates on Sony LIV, the rain is not too heavy and the match could resume after a short break. India will look to begin from where they left off. KL Rahul need to fire and Rohit Sharma need to go for a big score.

@5:20 PM: Rain likely to interrupt play again. The showers are getting heavier again. The covers are coming on the ground to cover the pitch. This can be frustrating as India were playing well against England. India are 46/0 in 18.4 overs.

@5:14 PM: There is stopping for Rohit Sharma as he is all set for his half century. he will finally be looking to end his strings of 30s and score big.

@5:08 PM: KL Rahul keeping the other end busy. A maiden over for James Anderson. He is playing the role of anchor at the other end.

@4:59 PM: Rohit Sharma taking on Sam Curran with 4 boundaries in an over. He was right on the money and took on the bowler after getting well settled on the crease.

@4:45 PM: Rohit Sharma survives an lbw off James Anderson as the pitch pitches outside leg. He will look to keep his wicket and go for a big score.

Kohli: Ishant replaces Shardul, that’s the only change. We announced 12 within the group and Ashwin definitely was part of that. But this makes the most sense for us as a team.

Root: Going to bowl. Obviously a tinge of green but it’s more the overhead conditions. Got three changes: Hameed for Crawley, Wood for Broad, Ali for Lawrence. Anderson went through all of the hurdles you have to jump when you think there could be something wrong. No issues there.

@3:20PM – IND vs ENG LIVE 2nd TEST:  England have won the toss and have opted to field: Root and Kohli walking out for the toss. Will be a surprise if anyone opts to bowl, the pitch doesn’t have that much grass as Trent Bridge as you can read from the pitch report below.

@15:07 IST – IND vs ENG LIVE 2nd TEST: So the rain has stopped quickly as predicted. Groundstaff are working to take the covers off. News is that toss will be at 3.20pm IST, with the start scheduled for 3.45pm.

Michael Holding @ pitch report: It looks a pretty good pitch. When you to come to Lord’s the pitch looks dry. And it looks dry today as well. There is an equal amount of covering of grass. This might not create divots. If you have a spinner in your team, he might come into play. If there are four fast bowlers, they can be good enough. I don’t think a specialist spinner is needed on this wicket. Win the toss and bat first.

ND vs ENG LIVE 2nd Test: Before it started raining, Anderson was seen warming up with the team and bowling as well. The toss has been delayed by the way.
