Ranchi: Following the government’s order on reopening of schools, several
private educational institutes here have started offline classes. The
attendance of students, however, remained low as a significant number of parents have refused to give consent to send their children.
In an order issued on July 30, the state government had permitted the reopening of schools for students of Class IX to XII while imposing several conditions, including consent of parents.
Delhi Public School, Ranchi, started its offline classes from Monday calling the students with odd roll numbers to ensure proper space for social distancing. The attendance of students was around 60% while parents of around 30% of students refused to send their children to school because of the fear for Covid-19.
An official of the school said, “We will allow students with even roll numbers on Tuesday after which regular teaching would also be done through the online mode. The students of Class X and XII would also be called for practical classes.”
Similarly, DAV Kapildeo Public School principal M K Sinha said, “The classes are going on both offline and online mode in my school since August 6. All classroom teachings are telecast live for the online students. Sixty per cent of the students are coming to school and we are following government guidelines for Covid strictly within the campus.”
